The design focuses on a creating an institute of creative learning, specifically in allowing someone to learn skills in timber making and joinery. The design involves the restoration of existing farm buildings in Alyre estate, a heavily forested location in the north of Scotland, while inserting 3 new structures within the middle of its courtyard.

The design focuses on the use of timber as a building material in order to reflect the ethos of the timber making school while promoting a sustainable and low-carbon approach to contemporary architecture, and attempts to respond to a historically sensitive environment.
