The project attempts to challenge the idea of the way we live today, addressing key social and economic issues in modern day society. As the price of food is becoming increasingly more expensive, and the need for people to work together as a community to help develop society, GlasGROW offers a solution to strengthen and develop more sustainable communities in Glasgow.

The project is located in the east end of Glasgow, on the site of a former slaughterhouse. It aims to integrate the concept of urban agriculture and horticulture into an urban context, taking inspiration from the site's history as a centre of food production, and challenging its history as a centre of animal slaughter.

The Design integrates allotments and growing spaces within various housing typologies, to allow multiple user groups to engage in community activities through food production, as well as re purposing the existing slaughterhouse to create a retail link from two important market areas, Duke street and the Barras market at Gallowgate. The project was developed in a design team and was presented in a RIAS recognised CPD Public Forum in November 2017.
